Brothers:

Since our founding in 1981, Lambda Phi Epsilon has striven to be a fraternity that develops leaders. Over the past year the Board of Directors and the National Officer Corps have worked closely to reorient the fraternity to better serve our members and accomplish that goal. Some of these changes you may have already noticed, such as philanthropic events during our National Convention and academic scholarships to high-performing brothers, others you will quickly notice taking shape in the next year.

Our efforts are best described by our motto, “To be Leaders Among Men.” In accordance with that, the Board of Directors has reviewed the fraternity’s vision and mission statement and updated both to better align with the motto and purpose of the organization.

Vision
Lambda Phi Epsilon’s vision is to become the preeminent international Asian interest fraternal organization, providing outstanding leadership, philanthropy, and advocacy in the community.

Mission
The mission of the organization is to promote Lambda Phi Epsilon and its brothers by:

• Developing our active members to become leaders through training and hands-on experience, to advance personal growth and to achieve academic excellence.

• Perpetuating leadership of our alumni members in the community, creating opportunities and encouraging the spirit of fellowship.

• Promoting positive Asian American awareness and providing the highest level of philanthropy in the community

Words without actions are meaningless. To that point the Board of Directors has committed to several initiatives that will help secure the foundation of our fraternity in the years to come. Some of the efforts that we will focus on are listed below:

• Finances: The Board is committed to developing additional revenue streams for the fraternity and increasing the fraternity’s ability to manage finances. This means that we’ll be able to provide additional programs, such as the scholarships for outstanding Lambdas, and services for the chapters. It also means more efficient use of fraternity money, allowing more to be spent on developing actives and alumni.

• Alumni Activities: The Board is committed to supporting the regional alumni associations that have recently been established. We’re working to help share ideas and ensure that committed brothers are involved to make the alumni network a success. This means that the support network of brothers that you develop over your college career will stay with you as you move onto your next phase in life. It also means increased opportunities nationwide, both for networking and for career prospects.

• Communications: The Board is committed to ensuring that both our actives and alumni know what things we’re working on. We’re going to work closely with the National Officer Corps to make sure that everyone stays engaged with the fraternity on a national level. Furthermore, the Board is committed to openness and transparency, and will provide updates on our activities to alumni and actives on a regular basis.

We hope that you will join in our efforts in the coming years to help this organization and each other reach our fullest potentials. If you have any questions or suggestions for how the fraternity can continue to effectively assist in developing our brothers, do not hesitate to reach out to either the National Officer Corps at “nationals[DOT]lphie[AT]gmail[DOT]com” or the Board of Directors at “cristian[DOT]liu[AT]alumni[DOT]duke[DOT]edu.”
